Instructions

This is the information required for applying for the Bob Bittner Scholarship

provided by the California Fly Fishers Unlimited, Sacramento. Applications submitted will be considered for the $2,500 Bittner Scholarship and for a second CFFU scholarship for $1,500:

  1. Provide your full name, mailing address, phone number and email address.
  2. Submit a one- to two-page description of your research project in general terms. Indicate how your research results may aid decision makers to enhance fisheries, management options, fisheries habitat or improve the understanding of fisheries science, management and/or aquatic ecology.  Your project description may be evaluated by reviewers with varying scientific backgrounds. Remember, our fly fishing club’s interests are focused on fishing for trout, bass, salmon and other recreational/game species in streams, rivers, and lakes in northern California. Preference may be given to research projects that benefit sport fisheries and their habitats but projects are not limited to that focus.
  3. Identify the need for this funding and how the money would be spent on your research. Please limit this section to one page.
  4. Email the application to Dave Lentz:  dlentz@surewest.net

Note: the application deadline is Thursday, July 10, 2025.

The CFFU Club requests the scholarship winners to give a 10 to 15‐minute (approx.) summary of their research project at one of our monthly meetings in Sacramento, at which time we will present the award check.
